The Vandalettes are 4 women in the Seattle rock scene with a ton of musical chops behind them.

The four-piece pulls from punk, twang, garage, surf, Americana, and whatever else happens to make its way into the room, turning it all into a loud, melodic, slightly unruly cocktail of their own. Everyone sings. Everyone brings something different. And the songs tend to come with a point of view, often feminist, sometimes funny, and always catchy.

The Vandalettes are Heather Anderson on drums and vocals, Natalie Parks on bass and vocals, Shelly White on guitar and vocals, and Cheli O’Bannan on keyboards and vocals.

Heather Anderson started playing drums at 14 in Olympia, Washington, making music there years before the Pacific Northwest’s female-led punk explosion had a name. Her teenage bands included Cactus Love, and Nisqually Delta Podunk Nightmare. She and Natalie later formed the Bad Apples, which eventually became the Rotten Apples, and she played with Cheli in the Americana/alt-country band Honeybear. Currently, Heather is also fronting her band, Jaguar Paw. She sings lead on some Vandalettes songs and has been known to leave the drums behind and come out front when the song calls for it.

Natalie Parks is a longtime bassist whose musical history includes Seattle surf favorites the Mercury Four, plus a run with The Repeat Offenders. A rock-solid player with a natural feel for melody and groove, she gives the Vandalettes plenty of muscle underneath the noise. Natalie also plays flute duets in FlauteKast (with another of the Rotten Apples, it so happens)!

Shelly White brings the guitar, with roots in Seattle’s punk and rock scene that include The Gloryholes. She currently also plays with The Heels, carrying that same combination of grit, energy and guitar-driven swagger into the Vandalettes.

Cheli O’Bannan is a keyboardist, vocalist, and music teacher extraordinaire whose musical instincts can take a song somewhere entirely unexpected. She and Heather first played together in the Americana/alt-country band Honeybear, and her musicianship adds another dimension to the Vandalettes’ already difficult-to-categorize sound. Cheli brings two-beat instincts she sharpened with her country outfit The Loose Heels.

The Vandalettes are four women who have spent years playing, writing, and singing in different corners of the Northwest music world and now forging forward, together.

Punk rock with twang. Americana with sharp teeth. Garage rock with harmonies.
And no particular interest in staying in one lane.
